International Volunteer Day

International Volunteer Day is a United Nations initiative which started in 1985 and is celebrated throughout the world on December 5 every year.
IVD offers an opportunity for volunteer organisations and individual volunteers to concretely show their contributions to peace and development. Over the years, rallies, parades, community volunteering projects, environmental awareness, free medical care and advocacy campaigns have all featured prominently on IVD all over the world.
We would like to have some feedback from you as to how you would like to see the day celebrated in Palmerston North in 2010. A breakfast, Coffee gathering, media coverage, a float in the Christmas parade… you tell us and we will do our best to achieve a balance and find a fabulous way to acknowledge the day. BUT BE QUICK!!! The day is coming fast.
